QUALIFICATIONS: An example of acceptable qualifications:
Completion of secondary education or equivalent (e.g. GED); experience demonstrating knowledge of supervisory practices, budgeting, public relations, and labor relations; at least 3 years supervisor experience.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid Ohio commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements within one year of hire; must maintain insurability under the City’s vehicle insurance policy.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE CHARACTERISTICS: (*indicates developed after employment)
Knowledge of: administrative management principles, manpower planning, safety practices and procedures; department policies and procedures; knowledge of road construction, maintenance, and repair; general construction, maintenance, and repair; basic knowledge of sewer constructions, maintenance, and repair; basic knowledge of water distribution systems and components; snow and ice removal; grounds maintenance and repair; knowledge of the local geographical area.
Skill in: motor vehicle operation; computer and office equipment.
Ability to: supervise employees and construction projects; deal with a variety of variables in unusual circumstances; communicate effectively with administration, other department heads, and subordinates in an effective professional manner; delegate job duties; serve as Cemetery Sexton and as Recreation Director on an as needed basis, and other duties as assigned by the Safety Service Director.
