On Sunday, December 16th, Mayor Hugh Wheeler presented James Crawford, 8, a Certificate of Recognition for his effort to save his 5 year old brother’s life. More than a dozen people, including family and friends, attended the ceremony in the Port Clinton Council Chambers.
On November 15, James was watching television when he noticed his brother Ben, choking. He got his mother, who helped Ben.
James, who has autism, usually doesn’t communicate in scary situations, but overcame that to save his brother. Their mother, Peggy, said the brothers have a strong bond.
“It’s great having kids in the community who do something like this,” Mayor Wheeler said. “We’re very proud of James.”
