“THE LINDA HARTLAUB CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS”
WHEREAS, Linda J. Hartlaub served 20 years on Port Clinton City Council, as both At-Large Councilwoman and President of Council, who was first elected in 1995 and last elected in 2011, who completed her final four-year team in December 2015; and
WHEREAS, Linda Hartlaub was instrumental in, and strong advocate for, the Lakefront Preserve, revitalization of the West End and West End Park, the Conestoga Project, and other valuable initiatives; and
WHEREAS, Linda Hartlaub devoted herself to the betterment of the City of Port Clinton, and represented her constituents and engaged with her colleagues on City Council with grace, passion, wisdom, and professionalism; and
WHEREAS, Linda Hartlaub served alongside over 30 Members of Council during her two decades in elected office, and having provided invaluable guidance to Members of this current Council beginning in 2013 and onward; and
WHEREAS, the life and public service of Linda Hartlaub ought to inspire current and future elected officials and community leaders to strive for fairness, to give of oneself, and to serve honorably in the public interest; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of Linda Hartlaub’s long-standing commitment and service to the City of Port Clinton, this Council wishes to honorarily name the City Council Chambers “The Linda Hartlaub City Council Chambers.”
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Port Clinton, County of Ottawa and State of Ohio:
SECTION 1. This Council, in appreciation for Linda Hartlaub’s years of public service and to inspire future visitors, both elected officials and the general public alike, hereby honorarily name the Port Clinton City Council Chambers “The Linda Hartlaub City Council Chambers.”
SECTION 2. That the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) is hereby appropriated from the Council account within the General Fund, which shall be paid to procure and install an honorary plaque and portrait in The Linda Hartlaub City Council Chambers.
SECTION 3. This Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this Council and any of its Committees concerning and relating to the passage of this Resolution were taken up in an open meeting of this Council, or Committees, and that all deliberations of this Council and of any of its Committees that resulted in those formal actions were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with the law.
SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
